Help removing part of handle

Discussion in 'Exterior & Bodywork' started by Maccy44, Feb 2, 2016.

  1. The part I want to replace is drivers door, back (non moving) part of the handle.
ive chewed it to bits trying to get it off! I thought it would just pop off like the passenger side one?

  2. It's a pita to change, open door and there is a grommet above the latch, remove that and get something with a bend on the end I used a coat hanger , shine a torch in and you will see a collar , catch it with your coat hanger and pull it towards you about half a turn, the door handle part should now come off , don't pull the collar too far as it will fall out, it's door card off then
    enjoy

  3. I've seen that bit your talking about, so as I turn this part the outer handle part just pops off?

  4. Yes mate, just don't pull it too far

  5. when you say pull it towards you then half a turn what do you mean?
do I pull it or turn it!?

  6. Pull it towards your self. It will only pull so far keep wiggling the handle part untill it pulls out.

  7. I am having ground getting my driver door handle off too. I have pulled the lever as far as it goes and I'm sure it won't move anymore but the handle end part is still stuck solid. Can you help it out from the inside if you take the door interior trim off? Just trying to work out whether to take if to Renault, take the food trim off or probably destroy it with pliers etc. and fit a new end part of some complete new handles. Thought it would be easy. I only wanted to take it off go paint it off the car, but getting frustrated now.
