Hi people I'm new to the forum and and new to the Meganes coming from owning 2 RS172's [emoji4] .: I'm looking at buying a Megane r26 but the only problem is the Drivers side window switch only lets the passenger window go down therefore you have to press the passenger side to go back up, Owner says this is a cheap fix I just need a new regulator? Could someone send me a link to the right regulator to fix this please, thank you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It sounds like it's a faulty window switch (drivers side) or loose connection on the drivers side rather than a regulator. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
thank you mate So I would have to replace the the actual switch it self then? I just don't want to buy it and end up with a complete head ache with the electrics to the Windows [emoji1304] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What I'd do (you'll need a multimeter for this). Is pop the window switch out.... The drivers door that is working, press the switch to move the window up... One of the connections will go to +12v. Now, Use this same connector location on the passenger window switch.. If upon pressing, the same connector (on the passenger switch) doesn't go to +12v. The window motor isn't seeing any voltage to tell it to energise. You could bridge the passenger switch (bypass it) with a small length of wire and the window should re-close. This to me would strongly indicate a defective switch. On the other hand, if you DO see +12v on the close switch and nothing happens, it would mean you have either a break in the wire or a loose connection somewhere. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
As suggested sounds like a switch/connection issue rather than the regulator. If the regulator does go though you should still be able to get it fixed under the "Window Regulator Repair Scheme". Took my R26 to Renault at Sevenoaks this year and they stumped up 76% of the cost to replace both regulators and looms. Still cost me about £350 though!!. There are some cheaper fixes though but I believe you might lose the one-touch up/down function.
