265 Help installing braided lines

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by Nitro94, Sep 24, 2020.

  1. Hi,
I’ve ordered 6 line braided brake line kit for my Megane RS265. Thought I’d check out the rears before installing because I couldn’t find much info on installing them online.
It appears that the brake line is crimped onto the hardline not bolted on? Does anyone know the correct way to take these off and reinstall the new ones.
    I’ve attached some pictures of the bit I’m talking about 7449C9E8-4C43-4E0D-948F-79C72E907F56.jpeg 4DF9EA16-6EF7-4AD2-9507-2B9FAEF5C813.jpeg 1E741434-A439-4B18-B23F-6F020EA7E66A.jpeg 7449C9E8-4C43-4E0D-948F-79C72E907F56.jpeg 4DF9EA16-6EF7-4AD2-9507-2B9FAEF5C813.jpeg

  2. You’ll be replacing all the line from the Caliper to the joint by the rear beam (drivers side). Where the short pipes are.

Ensure you don’t allow the master cylinder to run dry whilst doing this as bleeding the ABS pump is difficult without clip.

  3. Thanks for the reply.
If I’m replacing the whole section does that mean I’ll be connecting one of the short lines directly to one of the long lines and replacing that whole section?

  4. Yeah - short line connects to long line !!

Why they don’t make the long lines even longer and replace the short ones I don’t know

  5. I had done this on my 275. Ordered HEL Performance brake lines kit wich came with only 4 hoses. On the backside brakes, I only replaced the ones that come near rear axle (above the axle), both lines comes together side by side. I didn't do anything to the lines wich are connected diretcly to the calipers.

  6. Same here.

  7. Nitro94 has the six line kit so it replaces the pipe all the way to the calipers.

IMO it’s pointless fitting the braided hoses if you then leave normal rubber hoses in place.

  8. Don’t suppose it makes a huge difference on the rear, but I figured if I’m gonna do the upgrade I may as well do the whole lot

  9. Thanks for all the help Paul

  10. The ones that go to the calliper aren’t just rubber it’s as if it’s metal, coated with rubber then final bit is a hard/metal pipe but I know what you are saying.
