Welcome Arthur!, get some pictures up of your car if you get the chance There are quite a few Dutch people on this I think!
I've been lurking around for a few months now and i've finally bought my first 197, so i thought it was time for a proper introduction! My name is Arthur and i'm 26 years old, i live in The Netherlands opproximately 20 mins above Amsterdam. I'm an F16 Mechanic by profession at the RNLAF. I've been hanging around UK's boards for quite some time now, examples being CS, Williamclio, RTOC, Turborenault etc. so some of you may know me already..... As our main interest is cars i'll show you a few of my rides: My current daily, a 2005 Clio dci 100 (which will be replaced by the 197): My 330bhp Renault 9: And my resprayed R5gtt (which has been tucked away for 5 years now): I don't have any pics of the 197 yet, all i can tell its a 2007 LY F1 Team It's not really a sensible choice for me to make as i drive about 20.000 miles a year but after driving the Dci for 3 years i got bored and finally found my dream car! Cheers, Arthur
Don't know what happened to the first message? Anyway, i've already bought a megane for the engine transplant, engine will be taken care of also!
I remember reading about that Renault 9 in PFC mag, and it is one of my favourite cars they have featured. Fantastic car!
And? Plenty people on here who own other Renaultsports never mind the ones that own a complete different marque
Welcome along Arthur, what do you work on mate, gas turbines or airframe? Or both? Some lovely motors you have got there.
I'm a member on clio197.net also but since i'm going to build a 225 engine in it i thought i'd be welcome here too the 9 is one in it's own league indeed, was time for a change though i'm certified for the whole aircraft but the Pratt&whitney engine is my specialism
I did 12 years in the Royal Air Force working as a gas turbine and airframe engineer on Harrier Gr7 and Gr9 which has Rolls Royce Pegasus and Tornado Gr4 Rolls Royce RB199. Worked with some of your lads in Czech Republic on Op Flying Rhino, great bunch always had a bbq on the go!
@boardy funny you mention it, i had great fun with 2 of your pilots in Belgium, can't remember their names though what do you do for living now? thanks for the welcomes everyone!
I'm an engineer at coal fired power station now, been there about 5 years, but we have got a got a couple of gas turbines! Really enjoy it but do miss the smell of burning avtur! (F34) Had a chance to have a look around an American F16, such a nice plane, still look really modern for an old aircraft. I could not get over how little movement you have on the stick!
Lol, the stick is really odd indeed, no feel at all! cool to find someone with the same profession on here! Do you remember who you where with in Chech replublik?
I really don't know how they fly with it?! I can't mate, it's was 2007 so a few years. I'm sure I have got some photos from when I was there, I will try and find them. Sure the was a group photo on the pan with everyone on it.
Just had a quick look but can't find any at the mo, got 1000's of photos. Did find these though. Top gear drag race!
