My car has been laying idle for 5 weeks and started it today to find the heater fan isn't working at all. I had a similar problem in the past and the fan started working after a minute, but this time I drove got about 20 minutes and couldn't get them started. I checked the fuses in the cabin but none of them seem related to the blowets in any way. I checked the 10A fuse for "passenger compartment" but that seems fine. I'm guessing the fuse I'm looking for is under the bonnet, anyone any ideas? Anything else I could check other than fuses? Also, after I put the 10A fuse back in I started the car again and it's now showing a "check ABS" message. Could it somehow be related to me pulling out the fuse or just coincidence? The only fuse in that compartment that's ABS related is for ABS/ESP and I'm not getting any messages for the ESP. If it's unlikely to be related then I'll just start a new thread. Cheers
Nobody have any ideas? If not can anyone recommend a garage to use in Glasgow? I usually use SWR for servicing etc. but don't think it's necessary to go through to Stirling for this.
I also have problems with the fan on my 250. Only the high power setting works for me though. The slower speeds are not. I was considering getting my AC re gassed but then I noticed the dials illumination is off so prahaps a bad connection in behind the controlls
The fan has randomly started working again so who knows what the problem was. Will still want it checked out, not ideal in this weather to lose the use of the blowers!
iv just taken myn to bits, one of the two plugs were loose. everything working normal again now. i think bumps in the road whilst driving must must move it enough to break or make the connection. it only took me half hour to take to bits and figure out the problem and fix. pull off the trim arround the radio/heater controll. three pieces come off together from the steeringwheel colomn across to the glove box, remove the 12v and start button plugs from the back. then with a trox bit (not sure which size) remove two screws from either side of the heater controll then above the two screw holes there are two clips need pushing out. if you want it compleatley out to see whats going on then push/pull & twist untill you get the heater out and disconnect the cables and plugs from the back. or just reach in behind to push the eletrical plugs firmly back into the unit. and put back together. job done!
Arghhhhh! Mine has this problem too. Same as the OP. The car has been laid up in my garage since the end of Sep. One of the CV's has gone on my winter hack so I needed to bring the Megane out of hibernation tonight until the CV is fixed. Going to get petrol I've discovered that the fan won't work!! Everything else is ok. AC light comes on etc. Plus there's heat coming through just no blower, regardless of the settings. Have had a quick strip out as above but to no avail. Will try again tomorrow. Found this from googling. http://www.renaultforums.co.uk/showthread.php May be of use for others. I'm gonna re-check the connections tomorrow afternoon, then check fuses etc. Bloody cars!!!!!!
Update. Blowers came back on today. 30 mins into a 40 min commute and they decided to work again. Saved me from stripping the car down this afternoon so a bit of a result.
