Hey, Does anyone have any tips for the removal of the heater blower. I have removed the glove box, removed the fan from the thing it sits in, but I just can't seem to get it out that small space due to all the wires and a couple of metal parts that are in the way. Haynes manual makes out it can just be easily taken out. Rather not pay a garage but I have tried twice now. Thank you! Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
I need to do this soon on mine as it works intermittently and sometimes have to give the console a slap! I've look on youtube there a couple of vids. This ones not the best but shows how it goes together:
The main thing I remember about this is all the positions I was in trying to get comfy doing the job! I'm sure when you get everything positioned just right (mainly yourself) it come out fairly easily.
Managed to get it out after a lot of fiddling. Not as easy as it was done in this video. Problem I now have is 3/4 of the blades are missing and I can't seem to find them. Had my whole am in the hole searching for them. Bit worrying. Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
Was your's like mine and not working all the time? Did you solve it? Mines even worse now, needs a slap to kick start it most times and when its running makes all kinds of horrendous noises!
Mines worked on all settings but it made a horrendous noise. Sounded like it had loads of stones in it. Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
So when you took it out you've now found most of the blades are damaged? I'm thinking this is whats happened to mine. I might source a replacement blower motor so that if mines badly damaged when I get it out i can install a decent one instead of doing it all twice!
3/4 of the blades were missing, it was in a bad state. I only found a couple of the blades. Not sure where the rest of them are, had a good search but couldn't see them. I got a replacement from ECP with 32% discount. Think it was £37. It was branded EIS but they also do the valeo one which is what I removed but it was double the price. The EIS seems to work perfect. Ahh not too bad prices, I was expecting £150+ to be honest! Might just buy new then rather than faffing with a used one. Any major issues removing it or was it just fiddly due to access? I know glove box has to come off and side panel of centre console - Hopefully console is easy like the clip off panel for the cabin filter?
6 screws for glovebox and everything else clips off. This part takes 5 mins if you have done it before. Very fiddly. Took me ages to get it out. Installing the new one was easier but still fiddly. Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
Mine has packed in on my 275 trophy....no blower at all. Had Reno assist out last night and it's being collected by flatbed later this morning to go to the dealer, as cannot demist the windows in this weather. Worst of it is, it will sit at dealer until next thursday until they can look at it.
I saw your post on the FB page I think! A shame to have issues like that so early in the cars life, but at least the warranty will sort it I suppose! I've ordered a new blower for mine - £40 with eurocarparts Xmas discount, collecting it tomorrow and i'll hopefully fit it this week!
Literally the most uncomfortable position to get in and out of to get to it. Once you work out the best way to get under the dash its simple to remove..mine packed in all together and melted the loom on the motor. Replaced it all from a write off and is still going strong now
I've just changed the motor on mine and its solved the problem! I also fitted an EIS replacement motor from Eurocarparts, about £40 with their Xmas discount. Its a Valeo motor fitted as standard but they're about £100 to buy. This video helps show the trim bits to remove: I've got a few tips for anyone else trying this too - General removal is as follows, all on passenger side. Sorry photos aren't great: 1. Remove the lower left trim between the door seal and carpet - Next to the bonnet release. 2. Remove the end trim off the side of the glove box - This reveals 2 screws to be removed holding the side of the glovebox. Open glove box and you'll see 3 more screws in the top of the glove box and one more behind a little cap - 6 in total then the glovebox slides out whole. 4. Remove the lower trim on the side of the console - All these trims just pop out. 5. Remove the air feed pipe from the side of the blower assembly. This feeds air across and down under the floor. Then you'll see this: 6. Slide the yellow relay off its bracket as its upward facing plug gets in the way. 7. Remove the small diameter black pipe - It comes off the lower part of the blower assembly and wraps up to feed air into the glovebox but gets in the way of removing the blower motor. Further in you'll see the back of the blower motor, with a pack of relays attached to it: 8. Slide the relay pack off the back of the blower motor, there's plenty of slack on these wires, so you can pull the relays down into the footwell out of the way. 9. Unclip the plug off the back of the blower motor and unclip the plug wires from the motor body, move plug out of the way. 10. At the 12 o'clock on the back of the blower motor there is a clip, depress this and twist the motor body anti-clockwise. This will release the blower motor, pull it out towards you. The hardest part is then getting the motor assembly out due to all the wiring and aircon pipes. Best tip from me is at the top, where the glove box airfeed pipe was there is a thick wiring loom section. There is some movement in this, so you can push / flex it upwards to give enough room to drop the motor out. My motor didn't have any signs of damage but did have a bit of play between the motor and the fan so I assume this play caused it to jam / foul on its housing. The housing itself is quite tight around the fan: Now you can refit the new motor and put everything back the way it came. For reference these are the trim bits you need to remove: If your car doesn't have climate control and you get issues with the blowers only working on one speed - This is also a common fault where the resister pack burns out. You can buy a replacement resister pack to fix it - The resister pack is just below the blower motor and has a screw each side that holds it in place. The screws look like a complete pain to get at, so i'm glad mine didn't need this!
Did this at the weekend. Hands still hurt. Above guide is spot on. I didn't remove the plastic pipe as I lost my rag with the motor at just yanked it out in the end luckily without breaking anything. I also managed to break the clip that holds the relay pack onto the fan housing and have had to cable tie it up somewhere. I removed the pollen filter and hovered everything out and the amount of crap in there was unreal which wasn't helping airflow either. Don't do this job on a freezing cold day!
