275 Headlight Fogging up

Discussion in 'Exterior & Bodywork' started by NotaDiesel!!!, Nov 4, 2018.

  1. Condensation forming in my 275 Headlight.

Noticed it today after it was parked up on show at Goodwood.

    Washed it yesterday.

    Is this common?

  2. Happens on all cars, nothing new

  3. By all cars do you mean all Meganes or 'all' cars.

Seen it on old cars I have owned before but not on a relatively new car.

  4. Yes all cars, it's not just something magical that only happens to megane

Make sure the caps for bulb access on the back are on properly.

  6. Took into Renault today. They are replacing under warranty next week.

This is not just a little misting. Proper Water droplets on inside.

  7. Done today. I am a happy bunny. Car looking ace again.

  8. Mine fog up a bit sometimes. Ive never had it happen on other cars though.

  9. I had a 328i Sport years ago that did it a bit.

    But this was different.

Once it went it was wet inside & never dissipated fully. It would move about but proper wet with water droplets not just light condensation.

One of my rear lights does and it going to need replacing at some point, it's just not sealed properly. Some people put silica gel pouches in the light as a temporary fix.

  11. A chap at work suggested desiccant as you say.

Same principle as air gap in double glazing.

It would be just my luck that sachet would rupture & you would never get out.

My solution was use your warranty. The Joy of a newish car. ( something has to offset the depreciation!)

  12. Also had this on a Honda years ago, I drilled a tiny hole on bottom side of light, it never misted again

  13. Does anyone know if they are easy to reseal? My passenger rear is misting a lot.

Probably the best way would be to split them with a heatgun and then reseal with some silicon
