Have Renault Dealers stopped being RenaultSport specialists ?

  1. I'm sure you use to be able to look on the Renault website and see supposedly which dealers were RenaultSport specialists, I don't see the option / icon anymore? Have they stopped this?
That said I'm not sure it was worth a toss as the dealer I got mine from was a so called specialist dealer and they once said to me when I went in 'Ooh a 265 we don't get to see many of them' .... so didn't fill me with confidence!

    Anyway just wondered ?

  2. Haha are any of them RenaultSpot specialists? I've always found (by the salesman's own admittance) that I knew more about ther ranges than they did purely as there's so much info online.

I suspect due to the handful they sell, none of them are that clued up unless they're passionate about them like we are.

  3. I phoned m local "Renault specialist" to get a price for a service out of curiosity.
    Me- it's a Megane R26
Them- is that petrol or diesel?
    Me- puts the phone down.

  4. R-sport in Wimbledon

  5. I went to renault watford to have a look at a 250 and a new clio 200. The salesman said he hadn't heard of either cars even though they were showing as in stock there online! He then asked what I had (an R26) and he'd never heard of it but if I emailed him a spec of what I was looking for then he could get some cars in! Safe to say I haven't been back!

  6. I know you can get pretty into these cars but to not have heard of them is taking the piss a bit for a main dealer? It's the polar opposite at hardings renault in berkhamstead though, the main salesman knew everything about each car down to how much steering lock they had and nut sizes! Very helpful!

  7. This!

These guys know everything you need to know about fast Renaults, your car will most likely be on a ramp next to a Clio Cup race car, they also look after Renault Uk's Renaultsports.

One of the guys there, Andy, was an apprentice when I used to take my Clio Williams there in 1995, he's still there, really good bloke and not a lot he doesn't know. I was in last week and was chatting to them about the new Clio Trophy.

Recommended if you are in London or the home counties, I have Renault London West just down the road from work, which would be easier for me, but will only take my car to R-Sport....

  8. Dealers/salesmen worryingly often dont even know the spec of there every day cars let alone the rarer ones.

My parents went to look at a new ford kuga. The sales man said it was all wheel drive, great for towing and off road etc. Id looked at the spec for that particular one online and knew it was a 2wd version. The salesman argued with me intill i made him look underneath and pionted out the lack of rear diff and drive shafts. he then went off and got the manager to help us.

Renault are in the process of bringing back their Renaultsport dealership network.

I know one of my nearest dealers, Ness Perth is an RS one and they are very knowledgeable on them

  10. How are they bringing them back? Surely that implies they had something in the first place?

Renault Manchester are supposedly a RS dealer and last year I was there several times, what with buying two new cars and selling them one old one as well as borrowing two. At no point that I could see did they ever have a new RS version of Twingo, Clio or Megane in to look at, sit in or test drive. Yes they could get one sent in if you looked convincing enough, but that's just not good enough if you want to sell the damn things.

This a 'Renault Retail' dealer as well, so actually owned by Renault rather than a franchise. Plenty of Dacia's to look at though...

  11. There are a few out that know rs brand, but i does look like that salemen across the country arent trained in the brand as they should be

  12. When a branch is a renaultsport specialist all it means is that they have a specially trained technician and salesman for the RS models. That's all. Well so I've been told. Dealerships need to buy these cars in from the factory so if they don't think it's worth wile they just won't do it. My local had a RedBull edition megane in for months and the salesman said they had to sell it to another branch as it was costing too much money to have it sitting around as no one was interested.
