Hi guys, after a short break (3.5 months) at the gym I've lost a considerable amount of muscle tone and weight and gained a bit of podge, nevermind but I'm back at the gym now and eager to go. Thing is I want lean gains ready for the summer, I've sorted my diet out and am now looking for a decent protein shake. Im currently unsing MyProtein Impact Whey Plus which is ok but got looking and fancied a change to something else see if there was anything better out there? Not after all in ones to pack on mass, just a good hit of protein to supplement my diet. Must be fairly cheap, sack paying £80 for a tub. Want to spend under £40 for 2.5kg ish. Plus if anyone has any meal ideas that are quick simple and healthy please post - Might give me some variety. Chris
I'd just stick with your bulk suppliers...Myprotein, gonutrition, the protein works none of that fancy branding companies protein is potein at the end of the day. For me I'd go for go nutrition best flavours a few months ago I bought 5x 1kg bags of various flavours for £60 which is cheap when you think about it. Diet wise when I had a coach mine was pretty simple not the most desirable meal plan but worked throughly Morning: 1 scoop oats, 2 scoops whey, 1 tablespoon PB, black coffee Meal 2: 150g chicken, 30g brown rice. Meal 3: 5 whole eggs Meal 4: same as meal 2 Meal 5: 200g White fish, handful of salad Shake post workout Boring but worked. So I usually base my diet around that plan adding in extra/various carb sources if I'm wanting to add abit of size/maintain/cut
The best protein I have used is hurricane xs from my protein. I get excellent gains in muscle mass and when I use it my muscles feel a lot firmer. I also find that I get less doms and my recovery time after exercise is much quicker.
I have used numerous proteins over the years (ex competitive bodybuilder and PT) and highly recommend Matrix for their taste, price and quality. I use the Anabolic Gold protein in chocolate, vanilla or caramel cheesecake. £50 will buy you 5kg and a free shaker http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ANABOLIC-...t=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item257f9d488b I have used MyProtein many times too but don't really like the flavours or how they mix in porridge.
i've used quite a few different proteins over the years including myprotein which i find doesn't taste nice. the protein i use now is XL nutrition whey, it's cheap and tastes really nice and definitely does the job. i use discount-supplements.co.uk/ seems to be pretty cheap. i've found that once you find one you like the taste of just stick with it, protein is protein at the end of the day
Imo I'd never recommend matrix to anyone seeing as they got found out for using wheat as their mean protein source and the amount of sugar they add. Although that could of changed as that was last year
Really? Do you have a link to that? Their sugar levels are low compared to most for their Anabolic wheys...
My bad I didn't realise you linked for the anabolic gold which is slightly better compare to the standard whey... So quite a lot of sugar. Using Tapatalk atm but will get some links about them using cheap protein sources once I'm home, but it's common knowledge on the bodybuilding forums about the ingredients what's listed and what's not. Quick screen shot of a former matrix rep.. And why it's so gloopy But I guess to the average gym goer stuff like this doesn't really matter as it won't make a difference unless your a competitive bodybuilding when everything little thing helps
I use this stuff, mainly because it works for me, tastes great, doesn't give you bloating and gives good definition not just the swollen look. And it's £18 on Amazon, normally £20-25 in the shops.

I've never used any because I love food! When hard on it then chicken, steak, occasional brown rice and sweet potatoes for carbs. Add in a load of green stuff (vegetables, not smokeables) and Bob's your uncle. Nuts for snacks, berries for snacks, and when I can get it Kashi GoLean Crunch for breakfast when omelettes are too much effort.
