GT Performance water cooler for MRS 3

  1. Guys, does anyone have experiences with the GT performance water cooler for the MRS 3? I just have i bought some days before but I will find time to install it in some weeks. I suffered from the original cooler on Hockenheim as soon as the ambient temps are more than 25°C. Then, after 2 or 3 laps, water temp raises to 108 -110°C and power drops significantly for let say 30bhp. Everybody knows the issue with the stock cooler with it´s short circuit between water entrance and exit directly behind the crash bar where the only real flow takes place. So I found the GT Performance for very affordable price and ordered it. The water passages are same as stock, no special labyrinth similar to the Forge cooler whats leads the water first down by a welded-in plate to use all the area, avoiding the short circuit. I investigated the GT, there´s no rocket sience behind, the water boxes are something bigger and on the entrance, theres a bump what seems to be an ingenious modification to improve the water flow and lead it first to the lower area down. In total, the cooler is very well made, welding is properly, all clamps and brackets seems to be available, what should be done is to deburr all edges outside. When having a look inside the entrance and exit, the tubes are not perfectly matching to the water boxes, there´s a sheet metal scrap what might desturbe the water flow, easy job to remove it with a hand grinder. Make sure that no burrs are reaching the core, I´ve put an connector to the opposing side with some air pressure whilst grinding it, then the burrs will be blown out, and repeated it on the other side, no big deal.

However, i would be interested how this cooler works on the track ( if not, I could rework it before installing....) Thanks a lot for sharing

    Udo
