Grooved discs on a 275 cup s

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by Slam, May 6, 2016.

  1. Any opinions on changing the plain discs on my 275 cup s to grooved ? Like the 250's had ?

  2. No reason why not, Renault only changed it after the 265 as it was prob cheaper to manufacture without - a lot of 275 owners seem to moan about brake performance etc I have no issues on my 265 (grooved)

    steering likes this.
  3. For track use, many French owners report the old grooved discs being worse than plain. Rather than cost cutting, this is bound to be the main reason for the switch. But for road use I am sure you'll be fine.

  4. Yeah I remember reading something about that, can't work out why plain discs would perform better over grooved anyway but I'm no expert.

Shame Renault sacked off things like the grooved discs, xenons and a few other things I can't remember - my xenons are amazing cant imagine me not having them now! Directional too

  5. Cheers for the input !!! I'm going to switch to grooved...they look better on the car !!!!

  6. I certainly have no complaints mate and agree they look better!

  7. I'm sold on doing it now. The plain ones look really bland with my 19"wheels.

  8. I think it's the old cheese grater effect plus a reduced contact area. Providing you don't track the car then you're OK. Personally I can't see the discs when I driver so not too bothered

  9. Always prefer the plain, even for road use. At the typical price and quality from Renault, cross drilled corrode more, slotted crack more and neither of them are better on track.
