Evening guys, I’m after some feedback on the Gripper diff, my car is in next week for a Helix clutch and depending on peoples opinions I may have a Gripper fitted as well, my car runs 518bhp and 470lbs/ft torque, it’s pretty lively but awesome fun on track. Considering the box is coming out is it a no brainier just to get it done ? tia
Do you get wheel spin on track? If not then there’s no need. I started to get some wheel spin powering out of a corner and because it’s a Torsen type diff all the power went to the spinning wheel. I installed a Gripper and no more wheel spin. Although fitment wasn’t 100% straight forward. I was advised I should have gone with a Drexler.
I have a gripper in mine, don't get any wheelspin (granted only 310hp/350lb-ft) BUT I bought the gearbox with the diff already fitted and never drove with the standard box/diff in it so couldn't really compare, I just bought it because people said they were great and it came up for a decent price at the time (I was easily parted with my cash at one point and bought a set of Nitron suspension at the same time lol)
Proper plated diff like a gripper is nicht and day compared to the OE diff regardless of power/wheelspin
I’m happy with the Gripper as it does the job. My mechanic however, is less happy with the Gripper as it wasn’t a “bolt in” fit. He’s fitted a few Drexlers and recommends them as they have always been easy to fit for him.
