Gearbox oil

A thread on CS reminded me to ask this!

When I had the meg serviced in December I had the box oil changed for the Motul stuff people have been recommending...

However I don't think it likes it, before I had it done the gears in any weather / temp were nice and smooth but I've noticed in cold mornings now the gears aren't very forthcoming - especially changing back down to third.

    Anyone else had this?

I wish I knew what was in there before I swapped it!

  2. Surely it would of just been the oem stuff before?

Possibly, the car had only done 49,000 when I had it done.

Think I'll probably just do it again.

  4. Was the motul stuff the same grade as the oem stuff? Shouldn't really notice a change if it was the same.

  5. I've very recently changed my gearbox oil to the Motul 75w-80 and I've noticed it feels quite notchy when cold too...

Sounds like an oil change is on the cards!

  8. That most likely my comment on CS :tongueout:

I cant seam to get a definitive answer on what oil goes in a R26 box though :/

  9. 75w80 iirc im using 75w90 no issues

  10. All gearbox oil will feel notchy when cold ...

I've had 3 different Makes all 75-80 in mine now and all feel the Same

Just sticking with ELF now easy to get hold of and cheap

  11. I use Daf axle oil in mine partly because it's 75-90 fully synthetic gear oil but mainly because it's free from work. Silky smooth in all weathers and temps here!
