225 Gear selector bushes

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by BlueNGT, Feb 17, 2023.

  1. These are fitted in the selector mechanism which is bolted into the gearbox and where the shifter cables attach. The bushes are the ‘bearing’ surface that the mechanism rotates on. They are the part that people find go tight over time and cause the shifter to stop self-cantering. The solution is commonly to drill the centre back out to 10mm. In my experience however, the issue is not the bushes, but the aluminium of the mechanism corroding and putting pressure on the bushes. Popping these out and running a wire brush down the bore fixed my similar issue some years ago.
