Gear lever help

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Keithys, Jun 17, 2016.

  1. Hi guys I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but here goes.

    I have a 2008 rs megane dci 175.

Recently I broke down when I lost all the gears on the box.

The car went in and had all the cables done..had the car back a day after waiting 3 weeks for parts to turn up and be fitted, within 80 miles the same thing happened the gears all went again.

Got recovered back to the garage and they have rung me to say it's the gear lever and the box that the cables go into.

The problem is renault in the UK and France don't have the part in stock.

So my mechanic has asked me to find out if a gear lever and box can be fitted into the dci from a 225?

Sorry if it seems long winded but I am absolutely clueless and am trying to explain it how he did.

    Many thanks
    Keith

  2. Hi Keith

Good to see another 175 owner. Place the details here:

The 175 uses a different box to the 225/R26. The shift mechanism is different.

I don't fully understand what you've reported but know the boxes are different as are the shift mechanisms.

  3. Thanks mate. Yeah sorry I was rushing the message. Yes I wanted to know if I could fit a 225 gear shifter into the dci. As it's a pain to get the parts for this car.

  4. Try the link above.

I'm pretty sure the dCi is different.
