I think there are a good few that do, i've run BC's on all my Meganne's, but the 250 is getting AST's, i was going to go BC's again, but a set of AST's turned up.
Yea currently on Bc’s and want to upgrade soon to a full coilover set, mates got nitrons and it’s lovely. Will probably end up with some 5100’s. seen gaz did start a kit but then stopped
apparently Nitrons are good, Expensive and i've heard there aftersales isn't up to much. Gaz Golds had a really great rep in the start, but then a number had problems and weren't as good as the hype, maybe why they don't make them anymore. I would like to try Nitrons, but i'm not paying more for the coilovers than i did for the car
Yea mega money, looks like ast will be the only choice, unless someone says it’s not a good idea loading the shock area with all the weight? That’s my only worry
As an alternative maybe consider KW's? I fitted Club sports about 2 years ago, and for the price not a bad 2 way adjustable coilover. Whichever way you go, the important thing to maximize the benefits of coilovers, is to make sure you get front and rear spring rates to match your application i.e. street only; some track days; mostly track days. Also, if you plane on doing track days, and don't want to wreck you tyres with excess wear on the outside edge, make sure you go with adjustable camber plates. For the track you need a minimum of -2.5 deg.
This is my current set up, but the dampers on the bc are not the best with feel. Thinking of running closer to 3 on the front as I only drive the car to and from track
Pretty close to my set-up, apart from front toe - I typically run slightly toe out If its predominately a track car you can go stiffer on both front and rear springs; what ever you end up with just check (with manufacturer) that the valving on the dampers can handle future spring changes. i.e for me I went with roughly 7kg F and 6kg R - with KW confirming valving could handle close to 9kg F/8 kg R if I wanted to get a bit more serious.
I was going to go for kw clubsports with the stiffer front spring kit, but wanted to aim for a full coilover after driving my mates on track with the nitron r3’s the way it handles curbs and damping on bumps is night and day
I have the AST 5200’s very happy with them. Have tried nitrons also as good. A mate of mine was happy to swop his nitrons and money for my AST’s if I wasn’t happy with them.
Had a set of used ASTs delivered a couple of days ago, they will be fitted when i rebuild my engine and get it ready for next years trackdays
Yea I’m not one for facebook, I use my mrs account to look on the Megane Forum form time to time. Would love to find a set. What series did you get?
