I'm trying to find a part number of the fuel pump meg 225 . 220 000 km old and tired pump still works. I do not know how long these pumps last. I would replace the complete unit. It's likely that plastic parts would break if I try to replace only the pump.
I fitted one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DEATSCHW...397861&hash=item1c64f368f7:g:xB8AAOSw8UZZ8eHx But mine had 115k miles on the clock and was still working fine, only changed due to a few others saying they were having problems with lower miles. They are quite easy to fit as long as you take your time and aren't hand fisted
Some time ago I had a problem with dirty fuel. I cleaned the whole tank and the pump. The plastic is in a very bad condition. I was afraid to open the lower part. The rubber valve at the bottom of the pump is failing . A one-way valve that needs to keep fuel in the pump housing. Need housing first then its easy .
As long as you take your time you shouldn't have any problems and you could get the heat with a hair dryer to make it less brittle Second hand ones are quite cheap on eBay
