Fuel line quick connector failure

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by mihu86, Jun 11, 2023.

  1. Hi,

While boringly cruising on the motorway earlier today my RS265 suddenly lost power. I smelled fuel, pulled out to the hard shoulder quickly. Opened the bonnet - miraculously nothing caught fire... - and discovered that a quick connector in the fuel line, attached to the top of the engine, had disconnected. (I will get a fire extinguisher very quickly following this.)
Reconnected it, mopped up some fuel / waited for the rest to evaporate, then the car started normally. I will get this connector replaced (codes have to be cleared as well, my simple OBD adapter doesn't seem to be up for the job, despite being very useful previously with my Ford).

Is this a known/common issue, or are there any similar surprises I should prepare for with this type?
    Thanks.
