Front wheel camber on meg 250

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by Minchy131, Jun 15, 2015.

  1. Rite, not sure if this is the correct section but here goes.... I've just had the front tyres replaced and on the old tyres the outer side is bald and the inner has about 4mm left on and that's on both tyres?
So would the camber do that to the tyres? If so is it like this from the factory or can the camber be adjusted?
Maybe this can be the cause of the front end skipping on full lock?'
Any help or advise would be great.
    Thanks

  2. Not a common problem as far as I'm aware. Most meganes wear pretty flat actross the tread. Also the front isn't camber adjustable. I'd take the car to get checked on a hunter style alignment rig, then you can see what's what.

  3. On mine that's fairly normal because of the camber they run Minchy, as far as I know there's not much that can be done. As said above though, it's worth getting the alignment checked over

  4. Yeah I'm going to give revolution a buzz tomorrow! A few lads at work have recommended them as they do camber adjustment.
I don't think it should be like that from factory! Could be wrong tho, if the the tread was the same all across as the inside I would've got at least another 6 month out of them. They look really bad to be honest, I'll post a pic tomorrow.

  5. Completely even wear here, I would suspect tracking is out unless it's slid into a curb and bent something at some point.

  6. Would have had to hit something bad for both tyres to be the same tho plus it drives absolutely perfect! I'm sure it's just the camber, will find out when I take in!

Have the hubs been checked for movement? Theres no actual adjustment on the camber. As above, most likely incorrect tracking but a Hunter check wouldn't hurt and will highlight any issues in the unlikely event something is bent.

  8. The wear on mine has never been even since I bought it, there's always one side more worn than the other

  9. It will be tracking, mine had new boots put on last year, and irregular wear on old tyres, turned out it was toeing in on both sides, had it tracked and it been fine since. Felt the difference on the road too.

Mine has worn every set of tyres evenly, Something is out on yours.

  11. Wants the alignment setting, mega toe in angles will cause outer tyre wear and with UK roads as they are it doesn't take long to knock it out of spec

Also any alignment checks could highlight other issues if there is any

  12. Get the geometry checked, anyone carrying out the check should check car before hand for any play or wear in steering and suspension components.

Also try and find someone who just specialises in geometry, your local tyre usually haven't a clue how to work the gear correctly as most the time they don't understand the principles of toe, castor or camber angles

    Where are you based???

  13. Sunderland, I think revolution is prob my best bet!
