Front springs coming out of top mount?

  1. Got eibach pro springs on my car with R26 shocks, however the garage noticed that the front springs can pop out of the top mount? Has anyone else experienced this? How can I stop it?

  2. That can't be possible unless the springs are wrong.

  3. The springs are correct, Steven Johnson has seen this with the pro springs before apparently there's a different top mount that can hold the spring better?

  4. I don't understand how they can pop out of the top mounts? Do they jump off when you go over bumps and the weight comes off them or what?

  5. that's what is being suggested, I haven't actually seen this happen myself

  6. So they haven't actually popped out you're just worried in case they do? Probably because the spring is shorter than the shock travel.

  7. yeah, I haven't seen it myself but the garage noticed it happening after they changed the shocks, they said after it had slipped out of the top mount the spring was rubbing on the bodywork

  8. Hmm. Feel free to pop past my work if you're ever in ness and I'll have a look

  9. that would be awesome  where abouts do you work ?

  10. Pm'd

  11. I had this on my wife's 175DCI.
I dropped the strut from the top mount, compressed the spring and moved it into the correct position then fitted the spring back in place and re-fitted the strut. Took a couple of hours and a mate to help..
