I'm getting a knocking / rattle from the front end. Only get it on rough/bumpy surfaces and noticeable at low speed. Anti-rotation or drop links? Hub swivel bearing? I've got an engine mount insert on order but I don't think it's engine movement, yet.
I guess I'll start with the cheapest and work my way up then. Sods law it will be the last thing but at least it will have a front end refresh.
it could be any of those, i've changed just about everything now and it rattle free for the time being
Drop links ordered from RPD. £48.64 for the pair inc delivery. Hopefully I can change them over the weekend if they arrive in time, if not next. There's the start...... Next is : Anti-rotation at £61.79 ea Top Mount kit at £61.85 ea Swivel joints at £135 + VAT ea by Mick at Diamond Motors. MOT due in next month. Potential for an expensive one if the drop links don't cure it.
Drop links you could probably waggle and find out? Do it all mate. Absolutely pointless buggering about I did it in stages. Shouldn't have bothered
I just had this, it was the hub bearing, i'd had the drop link replaced and it didn't sort it. All good now thanks to @Markblack@MRS
Too much going on next month (financially, including a remap & a caliper refurb) to have it done in one go. Doing it in stages will refresh it all without bankrupting me. Also, I may end up finding out what is causing it.
I just grabbed the caliper & gave it a wiggle whilst holding near the swivel bearing to find out mine were kufed. Just replaced upper & lower swivel joints ( tops werent really necessary, but ordered them as well whilst it was all coming apart).Seems a long way about it changing everything. Jack it up, wheel off & have a fumble. Each to their own.
Changed the drop links today. Easy job, if the bastard nuts come off ok. Bottom NS was a right shit. Took 2 hrs to get the feckin thing off. 5 mins to put it all back together. Anyway, took it for a run afterwards and I think it has fixed the rattle. Boom!
Mine also has this. It's currently at Renault being looked at. It had drop links but that didn't solve it. I think it's probably a swivel bearing. A tech drove it today and claimed he couldn't hear it - the second to do that. The Service Manager came out in the car with me and confirmed that he could hear it. Fingers crossed it will be sorted and, hopefully, under warranty by the garage I bought it from as it started doing it two days after I bought the car...
