freinds 1.4 ltr petrol ccutting out when idling any ideas ?

    Hi.

    the wife's friend has bought a 1.4ltr petrol megane ph2. they are saying that it cuts out when idling.

    is there a common problem on these to look at first before putting it in a garage..?

    Faulty pencil coil possible does it run rough?

    Without more info literally anything could be at fault under the bonnet.

    drives fine when moving. just stalls when slowing down to an idle..

    Try cleaning the throttle body.

    As above. Think this is the same engine that the clios have and mine did this. Cleaned the throttle body and it went away.

    turned out to be the coils. so a new set fitted and running ok so far.
    Service has been done now they cant turn the service light off. garage has tried and failed. and they have tried going down the usual route...
