  1. Hi everyone ive got a rs megane 225 07 reg! I found water in the door pockets about an inch and i think its comeing through where the speakers are! I also noticed the front bottom window seals theres a gap and im thinkin is this where the water is gettin in?? Has anyone had the window seals renewed and has it stopped leakin water? The car is booked into renault at the end of the month to get water tested and to see where its comein in! Has anyone solved the water problem havein new seals?

  2. Hi. Welcome to the forum. Its a common problem. At the bottom of the doors, underneath the rubber seals, are drain holes. Make surety are clear. you can also cut a bit of rubber away from the seal, where the holes are. You can also remove the speaker, renew sealant, and replace speaker. If any of the carpets feel damp.clear the scuttle drain holes.Let us know, how you get on.

  3. Hi there thanks for ur reply! I checked drain holes and they are clear! When i looked closely at the speaker covers on the door card i noticed water! So thats got to be where its leaking into the door pockets but where the water is comeing from has got to be the window seals it must get in through there trickle down onto the speakers! Ive already had problems with the windows when i 1st bought the car ended up havein to get new modules and uch module cause of the water problem and really dnt want the same problem happening again cause was really expensive to fix! so i really need to solve this water problem

  4. Where the window seal is,you will fine that the seal generally, does not go right the ends,so water runs along the seal, and goes in at the ends. They call this a design feature!.You could try using silicon,to seal the ends up.

  5. Hello Kevin - welcome to the site.

If you search on here you will find myriad threads on water leaking into Mk2 Meganes (and Mk3's - they haven't fixed it).

The scuttle drains are a favorite for getting blocked then water comes in through the cold air inlet in the bulkhead. This usually fills the floor pockets.

The water in the doors is usually because the door drains are blocked, as posted above.

On my R26, the top off-side corner of the windscreen wasn't sealed properly so water ran down the A pillar and caused plenty of problems. It even rained in on my knee if you sat in the the car stationary during a storm. I bought some flowable silicone from ebay that seemed to seal it up.

The side window seals are not known for leaking as far as I know.

  6. Water is supposed to get passed the rubber "seals" on the window, thats why it has drains. Which as mentioned above you have checked. If its not the speaker letting the water in (which there was a tech note about replacing due to water getting through it) it will be where the door card is joined together. If you remove the door card/trim, you can see on the back of it how/where its glued together. Run a bead of silicone over the join from one end to the other. This was either a tech note or actis solution about 10yrs ago. Its sorted every one ive had in. And my own

  7. Or you could put a wetliner in yourself (what Renault forgot to do) to cover the speaker / window reg etc etc - that's what I've done (only one side so far) but touch wood no issues so far 2/3 years
