For a more comfortable ride . . .

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by richmeg, Nov 9, 2013.

  1. Prob a sign of age but I'm looking to try and improve the ride comfort as opposed to making the suspension low and hard.

My car doesn't look low but the front springs are Eibach, so I was thinking about maybe standard springs, new oem shocks . . .

    Maybe even 45 profile tyres . . .

I know I'm probably going to get condemned for this ha

  2. Buy a barge? No point making the handling worse.

  3. How old is old????

  4. 17inch wheels and larger profile tyres? With softer side walls..

  5. You can get cheap secondhand Laguna II Silverstone wheels.

I use those for my winter tires and they fit the megane.

Definitively a softer ride with higher profile tires.

And the Eibach springs aren't hard at all.

    Buy a cheap volvo

  7. Replace the Recaro with an armchair....

Old people tend to favour these ones that feature remote control adjustability to make the transition from car to scooter as easy as possible without the need for a Zimmer frame.

  11. Ha actually had forgotten I posted this . . . thought it was a bad dream or something!

So a cheap volvo or live on a barge . . . interesting ha

    17's are a good call Jocco225 . . . how's does everyone see this effecting the performance?

p.s. 32 (but its more my passengers that have been complaining :wink:)

  12. Mate, 32 and complaining. You're in the wrong car! If passengers are complaining, tell them to walk

  13. Get a Van

  14. With a mattress in the back!

  15. Well iam 52 in December

  16. Crikey, you're still a youngster. If you're feeling old at 52, change your diet. Stop smoking and drinking and have sex regularly with whatever you like (that's to get the blood moving around the body). You have to feel like a teenager to drive these cars, not an old fart  (Just joking really)

  17. Thats why I got the Meg just Bliss

  18. I like your idea for winter tyres and those wheels look good

    Do you need spacers?

  19. Nope, they fit straight on with the same bolts from the meg.

  20. Hmm interesting. Could make changing my winter tyres cheaper next year

  21. what size winter tyres are you running on the 17" to give the same circumference as the standard 18"

    cheers John

  22. I had 225/45/17 tires and it was pretty much the same height as with the 225/40/18

I just found some winter tires that are 225/50/17.

I'm worried that they might rub on the arches.

  23. I have bought two sets of these 17" x 7" Renault Sliverstone rims

One set has been checked and refurbished winter tyres now on order photo soon

i have one set of four for sale two need refurbishment two are mint or you could refurbish to a different colour I was tempted by red or white or even light green but went safe with dark melic grey.

Let eat me know if your interested thinking £165 for the set
