Fitting dump valve

  1. Dear Forge,
I like your products a lot, and your fitting guides are quite detailed, but getting the 10mm bolts off is just not possible unless you have very small child hands and a selection of specialist spanners that no one has in their home kit.
    Lots of love

  2. Not really forges fault thou is it.

  3. LOL! All you need is a 10mm ratchet spanner to remove the original dump valve. So easy, I cant understand why people make such a fuss over it.

  4. I've done a recirc on both the 230 and 250 and the mk3 is definitely more difficult. Much less room to get your hand down there.

  5. I've got a ratchet 10mm spanner and there's no Fekin way that you can even get it on the bottom bolt let alone get any movement on it ......the ratchet spanner is not angled or offset in any way though.
And no it's not Forges fault although tbf glib instructions is the point I was making

Where are you joe ? Ah Sussex too far :-(

  6. lol yeah sorry buddy. Although I will be in wales at the weekend but I wont have any tools with me lol.

I don't know about on the 250 but my ratchet spanner is straight and it worked fine. Have you removed the intake pipe?.

  7. Yup removed that and the noise pipe still got no access :-(

  8. Hmmm maybe Ben can point you in the right direction!

  9. I will one day do a How to guide on these as it seems to crop up often.

obviously first trick is to remove the intake pipe and breather pipes for access to the lower bolt. Then it really is just an awkward case of squeezing your hand down there. Use the ring end and make sure it's properly located as they can round easily if the spanner slips off.

For the upper left hand bolt you can make your life much easier by grinding down the spanner to make it lower profile.

  10. Btw a bicycle cheap spanner has a very thin profile for the left hand bolt but I didn't get that far :-(

  11. Are you saying to remove the airbox pipe from it's left most end (as well as the noise pipe from both ends ) ?

  12. Yeah you gotta remove it from the turbo!

  13. That's a mission in itself mun!

  14. It's not too bad iirc it's 7mm for the jubilee clip you can reach in with a small ratchet and long socket . That's how I did mine, small hands help lol

  15. Once again, removing the intake pipe off the turbo is Significantly harder on the mk3 thanks to the shape of the bulkhead.

Your best off with a 7mm socket on a UJ and extension with a 1/4 ratchet attacking from topside.

  16. Mine is a 250 .....Had another look ....no way can I get the turbo end of the pipe off I can only just about see it and I haven't got a small ratchet ....ah well sigh
Anyone down Sth Wales way willing .....for some beer tokens?

  17. The dump valve can be fitted with the standard recirc in situe. Using the supplied T piece to add it to the vacuum pipes.

  18. Really?? And it will chose to dump and not recirculate all by itself?

  19. the dump valve still works with the recirc but isnt as loud as it would be with a blanking plate

  20. It'll only be dumping half the air theoretically, so half the noise.

  21. Ooooh actually that might suit me better :-)

  22. Fitted! Left the original valve in place and added the dump......it sound fookin lovely (not mad loud chavvylike) and is a piece of piss to do

  23. LOL. Glad you got it sorted.

  24. Hope you enjoy it. Should you ever need to remove it then makes that job simpler too!
