Fitting double din?

  1. Most should no this but having never touched the inside of this car, I'm clueless.

Firstly how to remove dash; 4 torx screws? That's it?
    Any buttons pop off?

Secondly, cutting the dash; the gibbons need cutting out? How do I know how much to cut out?

Wiring is fine, I have adapters. Just plugging it up to check it all now!

  2. Did mine in situe mate - dremel job !

Cut it almost flush with the inner edge, you got the trim surround already ? Funny shape, Bass Junkies on eBay do them.... The one that comes with the unit will prob be squared, where you need a tapered one..

  3. I kept trimming and offering the surround up to it.....

  4. Thanks for that chaps, I shall do as you say.

And how removing the entire surround in the first place??

I don't want to pull anything as usual French cars just snap parts

  5. Remove the head unit bud with the metal u shaped clips (or metal coat hanger ends cut off so you've got some rigid U shaped bits), push them in, pull clips to the sides (ie outwards from headunit sideways) and the unit should wiggle out..

Disconnect wiring from the back and tuck it away out of cutting harms way !

The lower tray bit under the single din unit from memory just popped out on a couple of clips - nothing fancy !

I didnt remove anything else at all, just cut the central bar out first and then started trimming... if you offer the new surround up to the console you'll see how far you've got to trim... Just take it easy, and have a hoover handy to catch all the bits of plastic as you're cutting....

  6. Spot on, thanks a lot!

Centre dash just needed a pulling

Cut the centre bar out, the cave fit nice a snug, didn't need any more cutting

Need to by an OEM fascia to flush it as it sticks out slightly at the moment

    But chuffed with the results!

  7. Nice one !

  8. pics ...... lol

  9. Stereo fetish ? LOL

  10. Hang 10! I'll add some pics to my project thread

Need the OEM fascia as it looks a little garish and need some more cables to make it full compatible as it's an appradio.

In the process of detailing, once that's done, I'll get some pics uploaded

  11. I got this one mate. f0a4a61dabaa0f66a50780253ac40f5c.jpg
Also fitted a rear view camera, proper pain in the tits though! af728a6bb4176a1a1ddbeb91ccc9effb.jpg

What phone are you using and which model appradio are you fitting?

  12. Bump for this what facia adapters are people using?

Plus will this fit an r26? 191027968068

  13. The above link is what I use for my r26 facia adapter.

That's the wrong centre console that mate, that's for the manual fan not the electric version.
This is the one you want mate but the price is a piss take, I got mine for 3.80 posted on a auction!

  14. Talk about Piss take! £50!? Anyone got a spare on here?

  15. I fitted it all up

But having a pain with the fascia as i still need to cut a bit more from the sides

I'm using AppRadio 2 SPH-DA100 - http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/AppRadio/AppRadio+2+(SPH-DA100) and using an iphone 5. It all works nicely, requires an adapter but once that's on with the appradio app, it's quite nice.

A nice UI which gives you weather updates, GPS, satnav, music, radio, etc. You name it, it has it. Plays MP4's, youtube, etc etc.

  16. Did you buy the new cable?
I have the same one, the av adapter is a bit pricey though.

  17. Yeh the 30pin-USB cable was a tenner which included a HDMI cable
With the apple adaptor costing another £30 - got one on bid on ebay

  18. Yeh the 30pin-USB cable was a tenner which included a HDMI cable

Also, how did you fit the cables down that way!? i've had to go out and around!?

  19. You can use the existing cable and just plug your lightening cable into the USB, it's only for the power, but for a tenner with a HDMI that's a bargain!
I used a wire coat hanger fed it through from the bottom, taped the cables to it and pulled it though, think it was pure luck though!

Camera is worth doing, bit of a pain but only 9 quid from eBay!

  20. how do you manage with the camera? wheres it plug into?

  21. I'm just troughing my tea I will post the pics when I'm done mate.

  22. Yeh i poked around for an hour then thought fuckit

  23. Just managed to procure one, £16 posted not bad all things considerd

  24. Don't know if this will work

  25. yeh i was thknking about this ; they're cheap enough.

Did it require any drilling or was there a hole to use already?

  26. I did not want to make any holes so I just ran the cable for the camera like this.
    77f82ed761817b53499ed9a638bdc031.jpg
The only holes were for the self tappers to hold the camera on.
Everything else was done using all the existing grommets etc

  27. It doesn't damage the wiring at all? Looks like it might pinch it?

  28. Na it's fine mate, just the boot rubber goes on it.
