Fiesta ST

  1. Anyone driven one of these????? Just had a sit in one at the local transport festival that the local dealer had on display. Must say I was very impressed with trim level.

I've seen a few on track and they seem to be very capable and being a ford the tuning capabilities are gonna be endless.

  2. Apparently they're great to drive and is pretty much a ten tenths car. Just look too diddy to me and there's one on nearly every street corner

  3. My friend owns one (a mk6), they're very overrated for my liking.

I had a 306 gti6, and in terms of power delivery, handling and overall performance, would take the 306 any day; as would he.

They don't really have a real stronghold in the competition. Compare similar pokey hatchbacks, and it's not really got a lot going for it.

    My opinion anyway

  4. I quite liked the feel inside compared to my r26, feel well built that's for sure.

Think I'd miss the performance possibly as my megs 287/312

I think Jamie's brother has one and he drives if often, he could probably tell you how they compare.

  6. My brothers got one, havent driven it yet but from being a passenger in it im not a fan, other than the old fords ive never been a fan of the recent stuff. like u said thou the interior definitely feels alot better made than a meganes. performance wise it doesnt feel quick at all, and the exhaust note is non existence.
Too popular aswell, dont even look at them anymore if i see them on the road.

  7. I like the look of them. I've had a play with a montune tuned one which didn't end welll in my favour if you get my drift. Grrrr

My mate is looking at getting one in October time.

Agree with to many of them on the road though, there isn't a day that goes by where I don't see at least 3 in my area.

  8. Had a couple of friends buy them when they first appeared, neither stuck with them. Neither ever mentioned disliking them as much as they just didn't engage with them as much as other cars.

    Hello.

On the road a stock ST vs Megane there is nothing in them in terms of pace. Fiesta is more fun to drive on the road as you can exploit its limits are far lower speeds. I regularly choose to take his ST out a hoon over the Megane. Fantastic little things and Ford got them spot on.

As for not feeling quick, Standard they don't really but the speed does pile on at a surprising rate of knots for a Fiesta, That Ecoboost lump is a peach, Like a large torquey N/A engine with instant response. Ive regularly sat at *** leptons in his and it doesnt even feel likes its breaking a sweat.

  10. Yeah i was chatting with the salesman and he recommended the mountune route but I think I'd be straight onto puma build if I had one haha

  11. Which Megane are you referring to there Jamie?

A guy waited on a petrol station forecourt to try his luck down the adjoining dual carriage way when I had the R26. I pulled 3 or 4 lengths on him in half a mile.

Hardly the biggest difference I know but, I wouldn't say there's nothing in them in terms of pace.

Standard Mk2 or Mk3 and i don't just mean on a dual carriage way. On a proper bit of twisty road there is very very little in outright A-B pace.

  13. I can't buy into them feeling like a N/A engine. (now that I own one which is rather torquey :tongueout:) I'll need to have a go in one at some point, so might just hang around my local drive-thru and hitch a lift. Should only take 5 mins to see one

  14. As Dan knows, my mate at work has one... I've been in it as a passenger and I've had a play against it on the way home. I really like it and they do feel more fun than the Megane, and I'd agree that they're just as quick as a standard 225/R26. The only reason I wouldn't entertain one is how common they are (as mentioned) plus they're quite expensive at the moment due to their age, and I'd expect prices to plummet once the Badboy Barry's have abused a few.

  15. I think the reason there so common is due to all the cracking lease deals there doing on them and the fact that compared to there competition (clio and pug etc) there cheaper and get better reviews

I haven't read one bad review about these yet

  16. Yep agreed, the residuals are very strong for these, plus having the option of being able to have a remap on it and still be covered by the warranty would sway me over other similar cars to be honest

  17. The new Pug seems like a pretty serious bit of kit. I'd be more inclined to get one of those over the ST. Personally, I need my car to be a bit exclusive

  18. The reviews were always pretty average and tbh Peugeot haven't made anything decent since the 306 gti6 and 106gti in my opinion

  19. What about the 1007???

The new 208 Gti 30th Anniversary thing is a cracking car by all accounts and once its spec filters down to the usual GTi's it will be one of the best small hot hatches out there, Certainly the top French small hatch....

  22. Seen one the other day, I really like it. As for the St theres just too many about for me and not great styling but always read how great they are

  23. Absolutely immense car! For me it's 10/10. My brother has one which he had mountuned and its superb. I never raced him pre mountune but I can say my megane 250 (completely standard) cannot shift it from my rear view. Yes the megane is slightly and I mean slightly quicker! Thats in gear we have never been off the line. But from 50-100ish its identical.

In terms of the drive of it on a B road it's again 10/10. You can be 100% on it in the ST and it loves it. It's so small and nimble, the brakes are excellent too! I used to own a clio trophy before the megane and I never thought anything EVER would match it for outright handling but I'm afraid to say the ST is miles better and light years ahead.

There is too many on the road as people say but that's for two reasons, one is they have great deals on them and the other is due to the reviews.

  24. that's the one. The TV ad for it is funny though.. they make it out to sound like a straight 6

  25. I think a few reviews have put this ahead of the ST, but it is the 30th Anniversary version which I think has sold out. As you, say the spec will no doubt end up the same. Better ride than the Fiesta which I believe is quite harsh.

It is, it feels busier on rough b roads than my old Fiesta MK7 did, even with its full coilovers, polybushes and uprated arbs. Brakes are also overservo'd as is the norm with a lot of new cars
