   ...from new, lasted exactly 4,398 miles worn to metal. Vehicles only used in 'pressing on' situations, but still shocking set of pads every 4 months.

   they dont last! Mine were new ish before a euro tour of 2500miles with over 1000 motorway miles and they are now worn to 2mm. Think yourself lucky my front pads on my 205 last ~250miles. Also 'pressing on' situations
