F1 clutch, please help

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by RsMarley, Aug 14, 2021.

  1. So my concentric started to leak and ztripped it all and decided to do the clutch while box is off. The bearing at the back of the flywheel and the seal is replaced now. The new bearing went in very easy. Almost too easy so that when i used my alinment tool it popped out and had to take the fly wheel off again to get that bearing in. Is this normal will the gearbox shaft hold it in, or must i maybe super glue it in so that doesnt happen again?
Then the clutch plate, which way round does it go lol. Ive searched and read everything i can find and no indication on it either.
The pressure plate must i just adjust it so the springs are almost compressed befor instalation aswell? At tbe moment they right out.
Ill post pics please any help will be appreciated.

  3. Thanks man its cool. I went ahaed and fitted the pressure plate today. Ill post a pic. The finger springs seem to be compressed fully when its tightened up.
Not sure if thats normal. How would the clutch realease if its already compressed.
I have a feeling the self adjust ment should be all way in and they have set mine all way out.
Ill just strip again if it doesnt work.
I could sign up to fb tho and ask thier. Flip

  5. I really dont think this is right. Im gonna remove it and make tool to adjust the pressure plate.

  6. Omg so, that would never have worked. I took it off and made siple tool to adjust it back. Bolted it back on and thier is enough gap now for the clutch to release when compressed.
So to clear up the clutch thing. If you buy a new clutch kit it is more than likely already adjusted.
If you recon a clutch it will need to be adjusted back. Might help some one in the future...
A pic of the gap now im refering to.

  8. yes these little spring should be fully compressed, and the clutch as a correct way round cannot remember from top of my head though, i think it is the longest part of the shaft facing the gearbox but I might be wrong.

  9. Thanks i was still a bit unsure about the direction of the clutch plate. Is mine correct you think then?
Decided to spend some time and do the calipers over.

  10. Difficult to say from these picture, if it works then it must be ok.

Nice callipers, did you paint them yourself or got it powder coated?

  11. Well im only going to put the box on tommoro. So i havent tested it.
I used a spay can, rustoleum. They were yellow already so i did a light sand paper with 2 coats then sand again and another two coats.
