Exhaust surround removal

  1. Thinking of spraying the chrome exhaust surround. Anyone have any tips on removing it without snapping anything?

    Thanks.

  2. There's 4 clips on it which ultimately need pushing down to release them. The clips are very solid and I doubt you'll break them unless you're really heavy handed.

If you go underneath the car and look from in centre of the car under the spare wheel well, back towards the exhaust you'll see the clips quite clearly on the surround and where they're clipped in. I used a trim removal tool and flat blade screwdriver to release the top two and the surround tipped back releasing the bottom two clips and it came out easily.

It's not difficult to do, but you'll definitely want to get a good light underneath with you to allow you to see the clips. I did it with one side of the car supported off the ground, and it took about 20 mins without knowing what I was doing.

  3. Thank you kindly! That'll come in useful.
