Esp check ignition

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Ashley, Jul 10, 2017.

  1. hey guys I was driving home tonight over took a car revved up near 6k and all of a sudden the engine shuddered like a pop noise felt like when a boost hose pops off .
The car still ran but was revving a tad higher through the gears
Turned the engine off as soon as I could safely stop now all is fine but I haven't tried to rev the engine past 5k
Check ignition ,esp and the spanner light were illuminated

  2. I had something similar on my 225 a week or so ago, I must have seen every warning in the list limped to local specialist and he put it on diagnostics and found that 1 coil pack had failed and 2 others were on minimum so had all 4 coils changed and did plugs at same time and its been fine ever since.
What he did say is that RenaultSport ECUs share a lot of data between the systems so mine saw the ignition fault and shut down the bad cylinder which then set off a load of other sensors fuelling, engine management even the traction control. So would suggest that you get it on a Renault diagnostics system as soon as you can to catch anything before it escalates

  3. Thanks for that mate il get it plugged in today

  4. Fault codes that came up were
    DF193
    DF005
    DF010

None of them were related to injectors or coilpacks so I'm confused now

  5. My reference to the Coil packs on mine was as an example of how the actual fault can be shown as something completely unrelated to what shows on the Dash errors

DH005 includes Engine compartment connection unit - Internal electronic fault as one of the possible faults, as always Renault electrics are never placed in the safest place for preventing water ingress so that could be causing some False faulty readings - the whole fuse box where the ECU is, and I assume the Engine compartment Connection unit is also located, is prone to "collecting" Water and regularly can fail to the point of needing replacement, or at least drying out.

Maybe worth taking a look around the engine fuse box for signs of water as a start point

There is also mention in the codes, of the UCH which is a multi-connector located in the area under the passenger seat, another area that can get damp if the windows are not sealing correctly so could also cause false errors - obviously you need to take care under the seats due to the seat belt pre-tensioners and these should ideally be switched off for safety, but this needs the Renault tools

  6. It's typically started to poor it down raining now so il have a look tonight if it drys up , I was kinda hoping it would be more simple than this especially one code meaning loads of different things lol
Would it be better to put the car on to a certified Clip system ?

  7. The clip system is the best for any Renault and especially the RenaultSport models - but of course it's a cost issue that has to be overcome. My local specialist in Pontypool in wales charges around £50 for a complete Clip Checkup but more important is that the guys there have lots of hands on experience, so can often solve issues that would take a regular repairer a lot longer and they are also a lot cheaper than Renault main dealer.

There are a few threads on here discussing specialists so there should be someone suitable near to you my guy is OK if your in south wales or hereford area fascar.uk

Looks like site is down but

  8. Thanks for all your help barman58 !
Turned out in the end to be a loose hose clip after the bov that connects to the map sensor pipe
Pulls great now but I have noticed when you get into 5 and sixth the power does die off a lot like it isn't pulling any more must just be the gear ratios

    Thanks again mate
