275 Engine Problems...

  1. Hi All,

Have a Megane MK3 RS 275 2016 which I have just noticed has some strange noises coming from
the engine. Car pulls OK, starts OK, has no fault codes/dash lights as yet , has been serviced on time with yearly oil changes also ( Renault oil ) , has not been tracked/hammered ( I have had it since 6 months old ), belts/dephaser/water pump etc done in 2021 and has done just over 30,000 miles.
Hard to describe on the internet but thought I would give it a try

Noise 1 seems to be coming from a pulley at bottom of engine on cambelt side and is worse when car is idling. Think this could have been there for a while but dosesn't seem to have got any worse so far.
    It is like a rattly/whiring sound .

Noise 2 I have just recently noticed ( could have been there a while but haven't heard it with windows up in winter ) . This noise is coming from top of engine , again from the cambelt end and sounds like it is just under the cam/rocker cover. It is like a knocking noise as the engine spins which subsides as the engine gets up to operating temps but is definitely worrying.... Oil was changed 4 weeks ago with Renault Oil which I bought and supplied.

I live just South of Middlesbrough so is not easy to find someone to diagnose and as a long shot
wondered if anyone else had had similar problems or could point me in the right direction for a
diagnosis , preferably not too far away ?
I have rung around a few garages but they don't seem
particularly interested or knowledgeable of these cars/engines and the specialists all seem to be a
    4 hour + drive away.

Anyway, thanks for reading and any advice appreciated ( without the swear words

    Andy

  2. Unfortunately it will probably need to be taken apart to find the problem. Find a local garage, that the locals use, look for recommendations on Facebook, other than that, its a specialist.
