Tried a search but keep getting errors, can anyone recommend a good oil for my 250, has anyone ever tried 5w40 castrol edge fs or millers xf 5w40 fs
Ive just put Millers Nanodrive in my 250 http://www.millersoils.co.uk/nanodrive.asp I spoke with Opie Oils for advice and if your car is still under warranty, then you should use a Renault 'RN0710' approved oil. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-898-rn0710-oil.aspx If I wanted the very best for it, I was recommended to go with a 5w-40 ester based oil http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx Out of those, the ester ones are Fuchs Titan Pro s, Millers Nanodrive CFS NT, Moyul 300V and Gulf Competition. As mine is out of warranty, I decided to go with the Millers Nanodrive, a bit more expensive, but some excellent reviews of it if you do a search
What about Halfords fully syntetic oil? I went today to Halfords and only one engine oil 5w40 which comply with RN710 is their own brand.
Probably be fine but I wouldn't for track work. Euro car Parts do Shell helix very cheap which is also Renault approved.
I wanna have it in boot to top up if required. I need to top up now about 0,2 litre. I have seen Castrol Edge Diesel 5W30 with RN 710/700, but guy in the shop said it is only for turbo diesel engines.
Finally I topped up 0,4 litre today. Car is nearly 5k miles/ 4 months after service. Do you think it is all right?
That's fine, mine has used 3/4 of a litre and it's done 6k miles. I just use the Standard Renault elf evolution oil, the stuff recommended/supplied by Renault. Can't go wrong with that, it clearly works well for the type of engine.
