  1. hi guys,

Just sent to turn the car on and it’s developed on awful engine tap. What do you guys think it could be - video attached:

That don't sound good dude, don't run it again you need to get that checked out.

  3. Yeah laid up - it had an engine build less than a year ago consisting of:
    Review at .5
    Four pistons
    1 set of blends
    1 main bearing
    Set of Thrust washers

Surely this shouldn’t of happened after 2,000 miles if related to the above work?

It;s hard to work out from the video if its a big end or valve, it's idling okay so i would say more likely big end, what pistons did you fit ???
its easier to check the bottom end first as you can get the sump off without removing the engine, if your going to check the top end out, pull the engine believe me it will be quicker.

  5. If you reve the engine and the knocking gets faster and louder it's the big end bearings

  6. That’s the big ends. Don’t run it as your about to get a hole through the block.

  7. Thanks for the advice guys - not been run so hopefully limited damage. Will get in touch with some specialist - anyone had it done and have an idea on £££
