Hi, Going to have to replace the battery shortly on RS 275 Cup-S. Would prefer to upgrade it from EFB to AGM type. Has anyone done this and are there any problems in doing so ? Thanks.
I've had an AGM battery on my Cup-s for a couple of years with no issues, mainly because the Yuasa battery finder was incorrect at the time and recommended an AGM. I contacted them to get them to change the recommendation and to confirm it would be OK. They said it would be fine, if not totally 100% optimal. I'm pretty sure there's a setting in DDT4ALL to change battery type to AGM to up the charge voltage, but I haven't got round to it and it was so long ago that I messed about with DDT4ALL I don't think I remember how! . The only caveat would be the car does occasionally get trickle charged on an AGM Ctek, so that maybe why it's been OK.
I ran a small AGM battery (motorcycle size) in my 265 track car, fitted it in the wheel well, only problem i had was when i didn't use it for a couple of months, the capacity of the one i had wasn't a lot 7aph. Also have one in my R26 trackcar as well.
I did change to AGM in March this year and no problems so far. Only heads up from me is to check what voltage it should be charged with. TBH I wasn't aware that under the bonnet temps could be an issue regarding AGM batteries.
