R26 DS1.11 and Brembo HC Squeak

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by mikeh, May 21, 2014.

  1. Is it normal for the DS1.11 to squeak like mad?

I fitted new DS1.11 with Plain Brembo HCs today. Took them out this evening and followed the Ferodo instructions for bedding in.

I was sure to copper grease the back of the pads.

  2. Yes, it's the high metal content in the pad.

  3. I also put the copper slip round the edge of the pad, works a treat

  4. They do squeal abit when hot .. Normal driving mine are silent .. And as Steve says bit of copper grease on the backs will help

They make some funny squeak sounds when you get down to the bronze pins. :-) As race pads go, they aren't too bad sound-wise.

  6. Yeah, they got pretty got by the end of the bedding in process - I saw the odd spark.

  7. Mine squeak abit when hot but generally silent

  8. This is driving me mad.

I've had the pads back out. Greased backs, sides, pins and I'm still getting squeaking.

More-so after a long drive and with light applications.

    Any suggestions?

  9. Try greasing the front of the pad as well? :tongueout:

What kinda squeak? Remember ds1.11 have bronze pins to hold the pad material together so when the pedal is pressed , they're gonna squeak, or at least make some sound.

  11. Very high pitched, high frequency squeak.

If its a characteristic of the pad, I know I can just get rid of them, which would be a shame.
