Went to get out of the car today and pulled the handle on the inside, door does not open Currently I'm having to climb over to the passenger side and open the door, but of course the music still playing until you get out, shut the door and lock the car! The door opens from the outside so I can get in, however my drivers window is stuck shut so I cant even lean out and let myself out! I keep meaning to take it to Renault to get the reduced cost regulator work done, now I'm wondering what has happened to the release mechanism - I guess something is disconnected behind the door card... any ideas?
I'd be looking at the cable that attaches to the handle inside the door, do you have any resistance when you pull the interior handle?
No resistance at all. I can see there's a little screw behind the handle, does this release the handle only or is it part of the door card removal?
From what i remember its just the little screw and a L shaped metal bar that's attached to the handle (and is part of the cable) holding it on, you don't have to remove the door card to remove it. If you've got no resistance it will be the cable has snapped/ come loose somewhere
Actually having looked and listened more i can hear something moving along the door card and even in the door catch when i pull the handle about the same as it sounds on the passenger side which is working
Its been to Renault who said fault with the locking mechanism, £250 repair, balls to that lol. Second hand parts for me I think. They also said my regulators and looms are fine and that silicon spray has fixed the windows, got charged for 30 mins labour for a bit of spray - not sure if I should be happy as I suppose with the discount its still quite a lot of cash to fix the regulators :/
30 mins is about as good as you'll get. Carl charged me £15 to jet wash a CV boot. I wish I'd seen that on the invoice at the time.
