Disc brakes

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by jack250, May 20, 2016.

  1. What causes faint lines in brake discs? I have one indentation 360 degrees around my front disc. Is this a worry?

  2. It's usually small stones or other foreign material which gets caught between the pad and disc, which causes the scoring. Not a real worry unless the scoring is really deep. Another less common cause is knackered wheel bearings.

  3. Nothing really deep just a faint line for now. The brakes were squeaking too leading me to believe it must be a stone or something similar stuck between pad and disc. Thanks for your reply DKay.
