Disabling fuel for compression test

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by chappers2000, May 6, 2023.

  1. What’s the best way to disable the fuel for a compression test on an R26? Fuse 5D in the engine bay mentions “injection” but there is no fuse for the fuel pump. Should I disconnect the fuel pump itself under the rear seat and if so does the round rubber cover just pull off or does it need to be rotated? Don’t want to break it.
    Thanks.

  2. The rubber cover just pulls up, then the plug is under there, best way to stop the fuel, or pull off the injector plugs, but that will give you a faults code, okay if you have an OBD2 reader that can clear the codes.

  3. Thanks Ian. Much appreciated.

could you just unplug the injectors?

  5. Yeah, think I was overthinking it. Managed to unclip the fuel pump wires in the end.
Compression was 175, 169, 170, 177 (gearbox side). New plugs were a little oily when I took them out.
Will have to book it in to the garage.
