Dashcam hardwire

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by brutamuk, Jun 14, 2015.

  1. Having picked my new car up last Friday I decided to treat myself to a dashcam. Got the Nextbase 402g from Costco for £120.
Been using it over the weekend and it works fine.
I am considering wiring it in to the fuse box with one of those piggyback installation kits, using the 12v socket fuse. My question is, where is best to earth the cable near the fuse box?
    Thanks,
    Bruce.

  2. You should be able to expose the bolts that hold the bar for the dash to the chassis on the same side by removing the dash side panel, solder a spade connector to the wire and loosen on of the bolts slightly to slip it behind and tighten back up.

There's probably a more professional way to do it but that's how I did it :tongueout:

  3. Thanks for the advice. Once I get the installation kit, I'll have a go.

  5. Thanks for the pics. That makes it look a lot easier. I take it you've cut a hole in the plastic to feed the wire through?

Yeah then it goes up the A pillar and across to the headlining to the camera

That's how I did mine but I haven't wired it to the fuse box yet.

What cable have you got for the end of your camera?
