275 Cut spark to crank engine after oil change

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Bigjet, Oct 24, 2018.

  1. Hi all

Just about to do the first oil change since I bought the car, 5500 miles since the last change. Is there any easy way to cut the spark after the oil change, so I can crank the engine to get oil pressure before starting it up? I know most garages don’t bother, but it’s an old habit from Formula Ford race engines and I think it helps the longevity. Fuel pump relay? If so where do I find it? Or any connections on the ignition I could temporarily disconnect?

Any other oil chance tips appreciated, not done one before on a Megane.

    Cheers

    Derek

  2. Due to advances in oil spec. Modern cars don’t need it.

If you insist just pull the power to the coil packs.

  3. have to admit used to do same back in the day but as said oil tech is so good that the 2 or 3 seconds pressure takes to build is covered by oil additives that we find to top range oils today
