Crankshaft Position Sensor

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Antony4262, Apr 3, 2023.

  1. I live in Australia and have a 2015 Megane RS 265 Cup 65000 kilometres,
all has been fine a new battery had just been fitted and until now all ok and now warning on the dash appeared 3 weeks ago
I scanned and code saying Crankcase Position Sensor faulty, so I ordered a new one from Renault fitted it all was good but now getting codes Check Injectors and check stop start and this is becoming random and it seems that it is happening when the engine and engine bay is hot!!!!!!!!
Does anyone ever had this problem
It is doing my head in now one day all fine then next day warning on and limp mode
It goes in for a new cam belt in 2 days
Any ideas would be much appreciated please

Send message to Ianplymouth on this forum, and ask him about this.

  3. The trouble is using a generic code reader, it can throw up all sorts of random codes, i think there was one very similar and it was low pressure in the AC system.
You really need to get it plugged in to "Renault Clip" to give you an accurate diagnosis.
Could be that your duel mass flywheel is moving too much, bad connection on a connector, O2 sensors, knock sensor etc etc etc.

  4. Thank you very much for your reply and it looks like I have to book it into Renault for a full scan.It has been doing my head in the last 2 weeks.
    Cheers Antony

  5. If i were you, i would try and find an independent Renault specialist, there less likely to rip your pants off and they will more than likely give you better feed back and options.

  6. The car goes into a Euro car specialist tomorrow to have the Cam Belt changed so I will talk to them about my problem and see what they have to say about this situation.
Hopefully they can find the problem.

  7. HI there Antony4262,

Did you ever find the root cause for this issue?

Having the same problem at the moment and not coming right.
