R26 Coolant change

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Paul ja, May 18, 2022.

  1. Type D coolant has discoloured (not sure why) so I’m going to drain and refill

Any tips on draining / flushing / refilling / bleeding (I think I’ve located the 2 bleed points)

Is it best to drain hot or cold ?

    Thanks

    as Matt says
But if you are going to do a flush, i would remove the heater pipes and get a hose pipe in there, blasting it in both directions, back flushing will shift loads of shite and ideally before you start put the temp on the heater on max.

There is a drain point on the bottom of the rad drivers side, you could blast water in there that would shift any sediment also.

If your doing this its worth using the pink 5 year long life antifreeze, its a lot cheaper easier to get hold of as well, i have been using it for years and not had any problems.

  5. Thanks for the advice chaps - a bit more involved than just dropping off the bottom hose !

Already got the green Reno type D stuff to go in
