Cooksport Review

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by Duke 2, Oct 7, 2014.

  1. Had my springs fitted on Saturday and have a few days to form and opinion on them now.

It wasn't through choice that I put them on as my old ones were knackered. I have never been a fan of the idea of lowering springs as I like the oem set up and matched spring/damper rates but I didn't fancy paying Renault prices for OE springs.

First of all, the delivery was incredibly fast, ordered them at 2pm on Wednesday and they were on my doorstep at 10am Thursday, so that was a good start.

Had them fitted by my local garage along with new top mounts and Initial impressions when pootling round town were that they were only a little firmer than standard and certainly didn't make the car too jarring like I feared they might.

Then today I had the chance to extend the car along some local technical and bumpy b-roads and I am over the moon with how the car drives. The initial turn-in has become a lot more direct and accurate due to less weight transfer/roll and braking stability is fantastic with no squirming or wriggling around on the brakes - the car now stays very true.

My next fear was that the car would follow through onto its bump stops due to less travel, but it seems cooksport have made the last few inches of the spring very firm and supportive so I never once crashed onto the bump stops through compression and there was no splitter/road interaction. The standard dampers do a great job of keeping things composed as well, despite me be worried that the car would feel under-damped and pogo a lot b

Overall I would say that it's nearly a draw-back free upgrade if you can sacrifice a tiny bit of rife quality and a bit of cash.

Cheers for reading, here's a pic of them fitted, hard to make out with dark wheels on a dark car but it looks great in the flesh.

  5. I had mine fitted Saturday aswel. And their amazing everything feels sharper on turn in ect I like you was worried about the ride comfort but if I'm honest it's hardly changed slightly stiffer but nothing like I thought it'd be

  12. Such a shame no one does adjustable top mounts, they would sell like hot cakes

Im looking forward to Cooksport doing the MK3 Springs, Them coupled with AST adjustable top mounts should be a perfect setup for those not wanting to spend £1500 upwards on a set of proper coilovers for the Mk3

  14. Hope they make them soon. Recently send them a mail with te question when it will be available but they never send a answer
