Fitted the new steering rack bush today and everything was fine went out to drive it earlier and my steering wheel doesn't seem to go all the way back straight either way after turning a corner/roundabout! Wasn't shore if this is what it's meant to be like because my bush was in pieces when I removed it so I was used to the rack feeling not at its best Cheers matt
Cheers for the replies! It's not to bad to change if you have all the right tools! Took me and my brother about 1.5 hours the worse bit was getting the old mount out! It kept snapping into loads of bits
Steering will be stiffer at the start, 100 miles later back to normal with no difference at all , truth, waste of time unless you know it's definitely at fault
Yeah recon my bush wasn't in need of changing and the play was purely inner track rod. It was a pain to fit as my rack was constantly fighting with me. Didn't like being held in full lock and be switched off so I had to run the engine in the end. By comparison my old 1.5dci was a doddle to fit the bush and the steering was happy being locked off on full lock. Steering definitely stiffer and I've now got a bit of a creak from the UJ area so I hope I haven't damaged anything when fitting/holding the lock on. Was getting the ACS light at first a couple of times but it didn't reappear after a quick five minute drive. Possibly tracking related as it's not quite where it was despite measuring with verniers before and after.
