225 Coilovers & wheels

  1. Ok So I will probably get shouted at for a thread about this, but, are there any kind of cheap <£500 coilovers that I could get for my '06 225 CUP? Im never going to take this car to the track, more of a show/everyday type car that im trying to make. The only ones I can seem to find are over £1000, which is stupid money for a set of coilovers that will be used primarily for looks. At that price I would rather just cut a few coils out of the springs lol.

The other thing I wanted to ask was, does anyone know where to get wheels that actually fit this wee car? Seems impossible to find anything that suits. Did a little photoshop and something like this is what im after

I know its not to everyones taste, but I bought this car as it was different to most things around here, and I wanna try make it my own. I have found a company that can supply these in 5x108, but its the offset of the megane that kills the idea. Only thing I can do really is get a set of spacers and maybe roll the arches a bit.

But ultimately, I need to get some loooow

    Cheers lads

  2. Or even if lowering springs fit that will do the same job!

  3. Only thing is if ur wanting it slammed coilovers are the only way as u can't get low springs aye it lowers the car a bit bt not slammed

  4. I don't get why you'd buy a car that has awesome handling then fit coilovers for looks. If you don't like how it looks, buy a new car?

I had coilovers once on a fiesta, handled like a roller skate but I'm sure it caused my back issues!

  5. You don't need to get it, its not your car.

  6. Fair point.

  7. Just preference. Like I said in the original post, I dont do track days, nor do I rally around b-roads, been there, done that with my skyline. I just want this car to be a little cruiser, and by lowering your car you can improve its handleing immensly by getting a proper alignment done. I had a civic that I had lowered 120mm and had a FRS done on it, handled like a scalextric car!

Its not to everyones taste I know. Also the wheels are a no go, went to have a trial fit the other day. Stuck out around 5mm from the wheel arches! looked pretty cool but I dont fancy getting a respray every 100 mile lol

Still looking for coilovers though. Thinking about the BC coilovers, had BC's in the skyline, where fantastic!

  8. 120mm lowered even with a full geo set up will compromise the breadth of ability of the car. Sure the perception will be that handling is improved on completely smooth tarmac, but on your average mixed back road it is exceptionally rare for a set of coilovers to have have enough high and low speed bump and rebound adjustment to give you good tyre contact on the road over mid corner bumps. You'll find you'll skip over things which ultimately reduces grip.
Coilovers which do offer enough adjustment are usually a lot more expensive than a grand too... Think black art design or ohlins or similar with a good tender progressive spring setup....

Totally appreciate you aren't interested in the handling but yeah, thought it was worth mentioning  I did the whole poly-bushed, braced, coilovers, spherical bearing camber and caster adjustable top mounts etc etc on my old Gti6 and even though I'd bought Gaz coilovers it was still actually less composed on my commute (yes I ran it as a daily for a year!). It was much better on track though

  9. Why not just go for lowered springs? Or do you want full on rollerskate?

  10. Im getting springs for now just. Gonna buy the BC coilovers in the summer and slam it

  11. Just realising you are on RMS too.

Any wheels I like are 'jap style' and won't fit..

  12. I'm getting BC racing coilovers for my r26.

Unless you slam it, it will improve the handling as proven by one or 2 guys on meganesport.
User dan.lewis i think, tracks his car alot with them. They aren't KW3s, but also arent 1500quid!
youtube "r26 bc racing" and you should find a vid of him

However, like you, I also want to do a bit of flush style for daily.
I have ktec 19mm spacers which i'm going to put on, but remove when im at the track.

The problem with 19mm is that the fronts stick out way too much, however with the bc coilovers, Ill be able to adjust the camber on the fronts which should help clear it.
