250 Clunking - Drivers door

Discussion in 'Exterior & Bodywork' started by nated84, May 5, 2016.

  1. Started to get a clunking sound when opening the drivers door.

Have researched and people say it could be that the bolts are loose on the door hinge?

Would this be the case, and ive seen its just a case of tightening the bolts back up?

Anyone got anymore information what it could be?

    Thanks

  2. It's the door check strap

Only way to cure it is get a new one. I replaced mine myself, just have to take the door card off, pretty straight forward

  3. Wheres the best place to get one?

Would euro car parts be a good bet, or easier to go Renault direct.....or would they charge me an arm and a leg.

  4. £40 from renault, £20 for a pattern part off ebay. The renault one is a newer design, as the originals had plastic rollers, the new ones metal rollers. Dont really know what the qualitys like on pattern parts.

  5. Yeah as above, new check strap is required. I'm in need of one myself on the passenger side. Quite an annoying noise!

  6. Have a drivers OEM one up for grabs 1yr old

I just got one from Renault Wolverhampton for ~£32 plus VAT

  8. Dont forget to buy a pack of door clips. They tend to snap.
