Cheap....Er...Tyre Black

  1. My brother had a set of alloys refurbished this week and the guy that did them happened to mention what he uses as tyre black, so I thought I would give it a go.

£1 from Lidl, black shoe polish with the perfect applicator pad built in  Thought some others might like to try it and save some money

  2. Good one. Did you watch "Mac Gyver" when you were younger? :tongueout:

  3. Looks good, wonder how long it lasts though?

  4. I will report back on how long it lasts, although I assume it must have a decent life or the guy wouldn't use it? Let's see

  5. Looks okay and for £1 you cant complain

I've not found many that last too long anyway so as long as it's average a quid is a steal

  7. Thanks for the tip buddy, can't be that bad for a quid! thank you.

  8. I thought of doing thid at one point.. but then I thought I was just mad... lol be intrigued how long it lasts..

  9. How did you get on with this mate?

  10. Doesn't dedicated tyre black also condition and protect the rubber as well though?

Ive never found anything that can outperform Meguiars endurance gel but for a quid this could be worth a shout.

Lol I use shoe polish too! 49p mine from B&Ms

  12. Same ... always go back to megs. It's a decent price and a bottle lasts ages!! I'm gonna buy another one tonight as im currently on holiday in the states and it only costs £4 over here

  13. I actually hate the meguires stuff, I find it horrible to work with.

  14. Try using it with the applicator pad they sell.

  15. I have that too, I just find it sticky and it definitely doesn't last as long as the turtlewax stuff I used before.
