Changing the Clutch on an RS250 - Advice Needed

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by torquenstein, Feb 3, 2017.

  1. I'm looking for a bit of advice on changing the clutch on an RS250. Renault say it is a 9.8 hour job so I am wondering if anyone with experience can tell me why it is such a big job? 9.8 hours suggests to me that its probably going to be an engine out job and I am debating whether its a job only a Renaultsport specialist should attempt or if it will be doable by anyone with good mechanical knowledge.

    Any help much appreciated.

  2. If it is anything like the 225/r26 to do, yes pull the engine out and do the work in comfort, i have not done a 250 yet but done a couple of engines on 225's, so much easier to do cambelt etc while it's out too, i would say it would take you as long or longer to just remove the gearbox it's awkward as hell

Take it to a specialist or someone who knows what they are doing, Both times I've had mine done it was only around 4 hours or so.

  4. Take it to mark black @ midland Renault. Did mine 2 weeks ago. Cracking job

  5. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. Unfortunately Mark Black is too far from me.
