250 Changing rear discs - Hub nut.

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by -Chris-, Oct 28, 2016.

  1. I realise many have done this before. I'm not after a how to, I'd like to know whether you fitted a new hub nut or used the old one?

Should the hub nut be replaced?

I'm ordering new discs today. Just wondering if I should add new hub nuts to the order.

  6. Ordered a pair of hub nuts to compliment the discs.

Discs, pads, nuts and postage was £224 all in from Renault Wolverhampton

  7. Just went to change the discs. The biggest size socket I have is 32mm and it's too small for the hub nut. Bugger!

Good job I tried to undo the hub nut before taking the calliper off.

What size do I need, is it 36mm?

  10. Make sure the 36 you get can fit inside and grab the nut too, mine was marginally too big, so spent a while grinding it down to fit!
I didn't bother with a new hubnut but I did locktite it back into place

  11. I bought one from Halfords. 7.99 with my trade card. Did the job perfectly.

  13. Bit of a thread revival, but those workshop manuals are awesome thanks! I'm guessing changing these is just a case of removing the hub nut and pulling the disc off (once you've removed the caliper)?

  14. That just about covers it mate , pretty easy job
